About Us

Our mission is to help nonprofits transform lives and society by providing them with the tools and strategies they need to raise the money required to make the ultimate difference. We offer customized engagements for nonprofits of all sizes from our base in San Francisco. In addition to working with nonprofits here, we also specialize in helping organizations located in the U.S. but working internationally to fund their success.
Somasara (pronounced soh-muh-sah-ra) comes from two Sanskrit words: soma and sara. Soma reflects the cycles of nature, notably those of the moon—represented by the circle in our logo; and sara means essence—represented by the white dot. In practice, Somasara conjoins these ideas through work at all phases of a nonprofit's life-cycle while holding steadfast at center to mission, promise, and passion.

LeadershipSomasara is a thought partner to CEOs and an ally to development teams, helping to grow revenue, diversify income streams, and broaden support across constituencies to strengthen brand and heighten organizations' leadership position. Recent NewsTwo pro bono projects are in our news, with Somasara helping a public charter school and an international healthcare nonprofit do their work better. At the school, a thoughtful and fun online strategy is now increasing opportunities for donor engagement and growing the funnel for conversions.
At the year-old international nonprofit, ongoing support from Somasara is ensuring that their new development lead has the focus and insight she needs to best utilize limited resources and grow the organization's individual donor base.
